WEST POINT, Ga. -- Bryce Carden pitched all nine innings, allowing just one run on three hits, to give the University of Pikeville baseball team a 5-1 win to complete a three-game sweep of Point on Saturday.
Carden, making his first start of the season, was in control all day as the Skyhawks didn't get on the board until the seventh inning with a home run from Christian Cabral. Carden also had his team behind him at the plate, outhitting Point 6-3.
UPIKE didn't have any big innings, instead scoring a single run in the first and fourth innings to get things started. Up 2-0 heading into the seventh, the Bears added two important runs as the Skyhawks' lone score was coming in the bottom half.
Some insurance was added for UPIKE in the next inning as second baseman Erik Manning drove home his second score of the game.
Point starter Luis Florentino lasted six innings, allowing a pair of runs on three hits with three strikeouts. Â
