PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- In an attempt to get ahead of inclement weather, the University of Pikeville and Lindsey Wilson baseball teams have agreed to a schedule change for their three-game conference series this weekend.
Originally scheduled to be played out on Friday and Saturday, action will now start at Noon ET on Thursday with a doubleheader starting at Noon ET at Johnnie LeMaster Field. The Bears and Blue Raiders will open with a nine-inning game, followed by a seven-inning affair for the nightcap.
The series will conclude at 2 p.m. on Saturday with a single nine-inning game.
UPIKE enters play with a 10-7 overall record. After opening the season at 6-2 behind a six-game winning streak, the Bears have lost four of their last five. Infielders Erik Manning and Travis Haen are leading the offense with .407 and .409 batting averages, respectively.
Lindsey Wilson, ranked seventh in the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll, is 16-6 behind gaudy early-season numbers from junior outfielder Miguel Reyes who is hitting .452 with seven home runs and 24 RBIs.
