Box Score 2 MIDWAY, Ky. -- A four-match losing streak was snapped by the University of Pikeville volleyball team as it topped Berea 3-1 and Midway 3-0 in a Saturday tri-match hosted by Midway.
The Bears put together set scores of 25-17, 25-17, 23-25 and 25-17 in the opener, followed by a three-set sweep of Midway by scores of 28-26, 25-20 and 25-21.
Against Berea, UPIKE got a game-high 11 kills from Kaitlyn Welsh, while Savanna Zakman ran the offense with 38 assists and Rachel Murphy found 24 digs to pace the defense.
In the final match of the day, Connor Cook posted the team lead in kills with 12, Zakman followed up her earlier performance with 30 assists and 12 digs and Cassidy Tackett came up big at the net with a pair of blocks.
With the wins, the Bears improve to 12-6 overall, which is just three wins shy of their win total from last season.

UPIKE will get some much needed rest next week as it plays just one match, traveling to Mid-South Conference foe Campbellsville at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday in Campbellsville, Ky.
