PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Pikeville women's soccer team fell 4-0 to Cumberlands on Tuesday afternoon, giving up two goals in each half at the Bob Amos Complex.
Jody LeMaster booted in the first goal of the game in the 25th minute when Mackenzie Novak played a ball ahead over the Bear defense that took a high bounce and put Novak into a one-on-one situation with goalkeeper Bryanna Schroers.
Novak used one touch to loft a high shot over the outstretched hand of Schroers into the back of the net.
That 1-0 lead held up until the final minute of the half when LeMaster broke free in the final seconds, dribbled past a pair of UPIKE (0-10, 0-2 MSC) defenders, and finished a shot from the middle of the box.
Fourteen minutes into the second half, Cumberlands' (5-5, 1-1 MSC) lead grew to three as LeMaster collected an errant clear attempt by the Bears and turned it into a runaway score. A minute later, Shelby Little took a cross from Erin Bolas in the box for the easy finish which also finished the scoring for the game.
UPIKE was outshot 19-4 overall and 11-1 in shots put on goal, that led to Schroers collecting a game-high six saves, compared to one sace by Patriots' keeper Christie Funk.
Macarena Acuna led the Bears in shots with three and three different Cumberlands players took three shots each as well.
