Women’s Soccer Comes Up Empty at Campbellsville, 4-0

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Campbellsville scored two goals early and added two more later in the first half to stymie the University of Pikeville women's soccer team on its way to a 4-0 win on Friday night.

The Tigers (3-9-1, 1-1-1 MSC) dominated offensively, taking 36 shots to the Bears' three, allowing it to win comfortable despite playing an even 0-0 final half.

UPIKE (0-11, 0-3 MSC) took all three of its shots in the first half with Macarena Acuna being responsible for all of them. Only one was put on target, but it was saved by Tiger keeper Amanda Howard as she helped her team grab its first Mid-South Conference win of the season.

Caitlyn Hunt played admirably in goal for the Bears despite the heavy offense coming her way, finishing with 12 saves.

Breanna Baptiste paced Campbellsville in shots with seven off the bench, but it was Rachel Blumfeldt who did the most damage, scoring twice on just four shots.

Blumfeldt got both shots into the back of the net in a hurry, issuing the first in the third minute off a through ball sent through the middle of the field, while the second was in the eighth minute unassisted. Baptiste added a solo goal in the 36th and McKayla Shearer closed out the scoring off a short cross from Baptiste in the 40th.

The Bears were unable to get a shot off in the second half as the Campbellsville defense preserved the shutout.
