Women’s Basketball Travels North for Siena Heights Thanksgiving Tourney

ADRIAN, Mich. – After finishing off the turkey and pumpkin pie you can set your sights on the University of Pikeville women's basketball team as it takes part in the Siena Heights Thanksgiving Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

Unlike the two classics the Bears have hosted, this event will play out in a true tournament format. UPIKE opens play against Indiana-Northwest at 5 p.m. ET on Friday and will play in either the championship game at 4 p.m. or the consolation game at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Friday's other game involves the host Saints of Siena Heights and Goshen (Ind.) squaring off at 7 p.m.

All four games of the tournament can be streamed live with live stats also available.

Of the four participants, UPIKE is the only NAIA Div. I program, the remaining three are all division II members of the NAIA.

Indiana-Northwest is the highest ranked of the bunch at No. 18, while Siena Heights is 22nd.

UPIKE and IU-Northwest enter Friday with identical 4-4 records after the RedHawks snapped a two-game losing skid with a 79-75 win at Grace (Ind.) on Saturday. The Bears are coming off a weekend in which they beat No. 15 Central Methodist (Mo.) by nine before turning around to lose to West Virginia Tech by five the next day.

The other matchup includes two teams hungry for a win as Goshen is 1-7 overall after two straight losses and Siena Heights is 1-5 after losing its first five games of the season. A 70-57 win at Adrian was the Falcon's first of the season.

After this tournament, UPIKE won't play again until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at home against Thomas More.
