PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The 14th-ranked Bears and Hilltoppers are meeting for the second time this season after UPIKE won 99-45 back on Nov. 17 as part of the Walters Auto Classic.
Jayvian Delacruz led Pikeville with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Chillicothe's Anthony Dixon Jr. and Josh Thacker tallied 12 points each.
Currently at 10-0, a win tonight would give head coach Kelly Wells his best start with the Bears. After this, UPIKE plays again at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday against Wright State Lake in the Expo Center.
The Bears lead the nation in scoring defense (57.8 ppg) and field goal percentage defense (33.4). UPIKE's +32.5 scoring margin is the sixth highest in the NAIA and its own 51.8 percent showing from the field ranks ninth nationally
UPIKE's third leading scorer Darrion Leslie (12.6 ppg) is 11th nationally in assists with 39 and 15th in total rebounds with 75. Eight different Bears have started a game this season and four of them are scoring in double figures.
