PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- Da'Rell Domineck and Darrion Leslie both tallied double-doubles as the eighth-ranked University of Pikeville men's basketball team took apart Toccoa Falls (Ga.) 108-46 on Monday in the East Ky. Expo Center.
Domineck finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Leslie had 16 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and two blocks. Rze Culbreath and Michael Chambers both flirted with double figures scoring with nine points each.
The Bears (13-0) dominated the backboards 54-23 and dished out 27 assists with only eight turnovers while the Screaming Eagles turned it over 18 times. Shooting was a struggle for Toccoa (0-12) as well at 28 percent from the field, compared to UPIKE coming in at 57.7 percent.
UPIKE was never threatened as it took off to a 13-1 lead to start the game and never looked back. The Bears finished with a 26-0 advantage in fast-break points, outscored Toccoa 64-14 in the paint and watched its bench outscore the Eagles' 51-18.
Following a dunk by Leslie, the Bears led by as many as 28 points in the first half at 51-23 before going on to post its biggest advantage of 65 points at 107-42 after a 3 by Michael Antrobus with 1:46 to play. The Bears' reserves hit five 3s in the final six minutes which was a departure from Domineck and Leslie pounding the paint.
It took Toccoa Falls nearly four minutes to make its first field goal to start the game as the Bears led by double digits just over three minutes into the action on a 3 by Culbreath. Just over a minute later Jordan Perry hit a 3 in transition to make it 21-3 and the rout was on from there.
