PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Pikeville softball team used a Logan Cline home run to tie sixth-ranked Campbellsville late in game two, but ultimately ended up losing both games of a Friday doubleheader 9-4 and 11-6 at Paul Butcher Field.
The two teams return to the field at Noon ET on Saturday for the final two games of the Mid-South Conference series.

A leadoff walk and a pair of singles around a sacrifice bunt helped the Tigers to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Alexis Smith tallied the big hit, sending a single to right to score a pair.
With UPIKE still hunting for its first hit, Campbellsville would add single runs in both the second and third innings to build a 4-0 lead. Tori Humphrey led off the second with a double and later scored on Brittany Rippy's sacrifice bunt. In the third, Madison Mudd led off with a double, moved to third after a fly out and scored on a passed ball.
The Bears' first hit of the game was a long one in the fourth inning as Jill Bohnert hit a leadoff home run to dead center, bringing the deficit to three runs. But it didn't take long for Campbellsville to answer as Brianna Scott hit a two run home run with two outs in the top of the fifth.
Campbellsville's 6-1 lead wasn't entirely safe as the Bears scored three runs on Bohnert's bases-loaded double with two outs in the bottom of the fifth. But that would do it for UPIKE's offense as Campbellsville preserved the win with three insurance runs in the seventh.
Two of the Tigers' last three runs scored on Scott's bunt which squeezed home one run from third and the other scored during a rundown between second and first. Scott was eventually tagged out at first, but the damage was already done in the frame with her team up 9-4.
UPIKE went three up, three down in the bottom of the seventh with a strikeout, groundout and lineout.

There was plenty of action early in the finale as Campbellsville opened the game with Scott roping a double to deep centerfield to score two runs, followed by UPIKE's Lee Griffin hustling home from third on a sac bunt by Kitty Raymond.
Over the next two frames the Tigers pushed ahead 5-1, using an RBI single by Jacqueline Roof to score one run in the second and a third inning that included a leadoff home run by Madison Mudd and an RBI single by Scott.
UPIKE would need something momentous to stage a comeback and that arrived in the bottom of the third when, following an RBI single by Raymond, Logan Cline busted a three-run shot to center to suddenly tie things up at 5-5.
Neither team could find a way to score over the next two innings until the Tigers exploded for five runs in the sixth on five hits and one error. Mudd started the rally with a two-RBI double, followed by a sac fly by Alexis Smith, run scoring bunt single by Scott and finally an RBI double by Tori Humphrey.
The Bears stayed quiet the rest of the way as Campbellsville added one more insurance run in the seventh.
