RICHMOND, Ind. -- The Quaker Classic ended on a good note for the University of Pikeville volleyball team on Sunday, topping host Earlham 3-1.
Set scores went 28-30, 25-23, 25-10 and 25-13 in favor of the Bears (4-7) who were led by Noelani Simpson with 19 kills and Amari Eadie chipping in with 10. Earlham (5-3) got 13 kills from Julia Stewart.
UPIKE outhit Earlham .359 to .078 with Cassie Jones leading the way at .545 on her six kills. Savanna Zakman had 47 assists, Brittany Reels found 21 digs and Cassidy Tackett, Jones and Eadie all had three blocks each.
The Bears were taken past regulation in a 30-28 first-set loss, but the setback made them catch fire, going on to win by 15 and 12 points in the final two sets. Â
