Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Sean Carley

Men’s soccer win streak snapped at Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky – For the first time in almost a month, UPIKE men's soccer didn't walk off the pitch with a win, losing to Cumberlands (Ky.) 2-0 on Saturday.

The Patriots took control of the game early as Marvin van der Made scored both of the UC goals within the first 11 minutes.

Reigning MSC Defensive Player of the Week Anibal Navarro settled in after those two goals, stopping the next seven shots to the final whistle

Besides that, the two teams were fairly level for the first 25 minutes before Rze Culbreath was sent off with a red card, limiting UPIKE to 10 men for the remainder of the match.

From that point on, UC dominated possession and held the Bears without a shot for the rest of the match.

UPIKE will look to get back in the win column on Tuesday when it faces the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders at 5:00 p.m. at Bob Amos Complex.
