PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- UPIKE men's basketball got back into the win column Sunday afternoon when it dominated Ohio-Chillicothe for the second time this season, this time a 119-49 win.
Six total Bears ended in double-figures, led by Jayvian Delacruz's 19, as well as 16 from Stanley Perrin, 15 from Jovontae Carleton, 14 from Luke Layhew, 12 from Xaviar Gaona, and 10 from Damon Tobler.
The game was never really was much of a contest as the Bears immediately marched out to a 21-2 lead. UPIKE would build that lead out as far 29 points multiple times before halftime, when it held a 56-27 lead.
UPIKE shot an outstanding 61 percent (22-36) from the floor in the first 20 minutes and even more impressive was the fact that 15 of the Bears' 22 buckets came with assists. Pikeville also held the Hilltoppers to 34 percent from the floor and 20 percent from long distance.
As good as those numbers were, the Bears turned up both the offense and the defense in the second half even as the deeper parts of the bench came in late.
Michael Antrobus and Brady Schmidt both scored nine points in the second half with a set of three-pointers. Every player to enter the game for the Bears scored in the game with the exception of Jazz Napier who got the start at point guard. Napier still made a big impact in the game, with nine rebounds and seven assists, both of which were team-highs.
