Men’s Tennis Falls at Georgetown 7-2

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Pikeville men's tennis team won a pair of matches in a 7-2 loss at Georgetown on Saturday at the Lexington Tennis Club.

UPIKE falls to 3-8 overall and 1-5 in the Mid-South Conference, while the Tigers are now 6-10 overall and 2-4 in conference play.

With four players available, the Bears took default losses at No. 3 doubles and Nos. 5 and 6 singles prior to the start of play.

Due to that early deficit, Georgetown was able to wrap up the win after doubles as the top seeded pair of Ryo Takeda and Tristan Nosek outlasted Bailey Horne and Andres Alvarez 9-8 to get things started. The Tigers' fifth win came when A.J. Berk and Daniel Orr beat Devon Sgubin and Jorge Mejia 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.

UPIKE's two wins came at No. 2 singles where Alvarez topped Nosek 6-4, 6-4 and third singles where Sgubin beat Berk 4-6, 6-3, 1-0.
