BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The University of Pikeville women's tennis team held strong at the top doubles spot, but ultimately lost 5-0 to third-seeded Campbellsville in the first round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament on Friday.
UPIKE's Andrea Hurtado and Samantha Fraser ended up losing to Bolor Enkhbayar and Majella Nobile 8-4, bringing the Bears' season to an end with an 8-8 record. Campbellsville advances to the semifinals with a 12-6 record.
The Bears had five players available, leading to them taking forfeits at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles prior to the start of the match. Following doubles, the Tigers led 4-0 after the second-seeded duo of Grace Rowe and Kaeda Amano beat Camila Agudelo and Madison Daniels 8-0.
Just one win away from clinching the match, Campbellsville got it done at the No. 2 singles seed where Enkhbayar got past Fraser 6-0, 6-1. The rest of the matches were left unfinished.
