PIKEVILLE, Ky. – UPIKE men's soccer was unable to snap out of its recent funk on Wednesday, when it dropped its first Mid-South Conference of the season, a 6-0 decision to Campbellsville.
The Tigers struck early with a goal from Marc Lawrence in the first few minutes. Campbellsville wasn't super dominant in terms of possession, but their defensive unit stood tall all match and limited Pikeville to just one shot on goal in the match.
Campbellsville pulled away early with four first-half goals. UPIKE responded with a better second half, allowing just a few true scoring chances and allowing for much easier saves for UPIKE's keeper.
The Bears were able to generate much more offense in the second half as well, getting more shots off than the opening 45 minutes.
Anibal Navarro made seven saves in his 83 minutes, while Travis Caudill kept a clean sheet for the final seven minutes.
