PIKEVILLE, Ky. – After an early UPIKE goal, Shawnee State took over and put away the Bears in a 7-1 decision on Saturday afternoon.
Emily Branham got Pikeville an early lead with her 12th goal on the season in the sixth minute, UPIKE's first shot of the contest.
Shawnee State was firing shots repeatedly by wasn't able to find the back of the net for the first fifteen minutes. SSU got on the board in the 15th minute, and from there they scored four times in six minutes to stun Pikeville.
UPIKE got three shots on goal in the second half from Jillian Kidd but couldn't break through for a second goal.
Shawnee State added three more goals in the second half extend its lead further.
Elizabeth Lukens and Erica Burkhardt split time in goal with Lukens making nine saves while Burkhardt made six.

UPIKE has just two contests left in the regular season, beginning with a matchup at Cumberlands (Ky.) on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. and ending with a senior day matchup against Life at 1 p.m. on Friday.
