WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Despite an outstanding game from UPIKE goalkeeper Erica Burkhardt, the Bears fell to Cumberlands on Tuesday, 2-0.
Burkhardt made 14 saves on the 16 shots she faced to post a new season high.
Pikeville struggled on offense throughout the match and was unable to put a shot on goal in the contest.
Cumberlands got on the board in the 20th minute from Elsie Kibler off a corner kick from Hannah Truckenmiller. That score would last through halftime thanks to a barrage of saves from Burkhardt.
Pikeville's defense would tune up a bit in the second half, holding the Patriots to just four shots on goal in the second half.
UC's second goal came in the 57th minute on a Micha Harris goal.
