PIKEVILLE, Ky. – In a night with plenty of highlights, perhaps the biggest highlight came from a single free throw that extended a lead to 76 points.
By scoring a season-high 32 points Friday, junior Jordan Perry became the 29th member of UPIKE's 1,000-point club in a 132-53 win against Ohio-Lancaster.
Perry reached the mark with a pair of free throws with 4:49 left to go in the game. He also came up just an assist shy of a double-double as he had nine assists and four rebounds to add to his scoring outburst.
Five other Bears scored in double-figures in the win, including 54 points off the bench from DeAndre Barton (20), Korbin Spencer (19) and JJ Ramey (15) combined.
Jazz Parker and Luke Layhew were the other double-digit scorers with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Pretty much regardless of where the Bears shot from on Friday, there was a good chance it was going in. Pikeville shot 65 percent overall, 53 percent from 3-point land, and 76.5 percent from the free throw stripe.
Conversely, UPIKE held Lancaster to 30 percent from the floor and 29 percent from distance.
The Bears were able to build a double-digit lead in the first five minutes and the lead just began to swell from there. By halftime, UPIKE was ahead by 37.
The second half quickly began to turn into a highlight reel with multiple high-flying dunks from the Bears as they cruised to victory.
