Volleyball loses to Georgetown on the road

Georgetown, Ky. – UPIKE volleyball keeps creeping closer to getting over the hump but wasn't able to get the job done on Thursday, losing to Georgetown, 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-15)

Despite the Tigers outblocking the Bears 11-1, Pikeville improved greatly on offense from last night's contest, hitting .156 on the match. Unfortunately, Georgetown's offense was firing on all cylinders, hitting .398.

After falling behind big in the first set, UPIKE went on a late 4-0 run to pull within four points, but then Georgetown closed out the set with four straight points of its own.

Pikeville found a great deal of success with its service in the match, getting six total aces, including three from Sarah Clark.

It looked like the Bears would tie the match up in the second set after building an 18-13 lead. But the Tigers again went on an insane late 12-3 run to steal the set away.

Noelani Simpson had one of her best matches of the season on Thursday with 15 kills on only 32 attacks for a .406 attack percentage.

UPIKE wasn't able to overcome GC's momentum in the third set to avoid the sweep.
