Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Sean Carley

Blue Raiders 3-point shooting downs men’s basketball

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Lindsey Wilson had its best three-point shooting night of the season to down the Bears in Columbia on Saturday, 80-69.

The Blue Raiders shot 59.1 percent from long distance (13-22), many shots with hands in the shooters' faces, to just outgun the Bears.

UPIKE still shot a solid 49 percent from the floor and 31 percent from beyond-the-arc, just the volume of LWC's shooting did the Bears in.

Pikeville once again had to weather an initial storm from LWC out of the gate as the Blue Raiders jumped out to a 9-5 lead as both teams started red-hot.

UPIKE received a big boost in the first half from freshman Korbin Spencer and junior Fode Camara, who both arguably had the best games of their still young UPIKE careers.

Spencer had 10 points in the first half alone to eventually get 16 overall, the second most of his career. Camara came off the bench late and scored six points and grabbed five rebounds in just less than seven minutes of work before halftime.

Pikeville was able to shut down the Blue Raiders' scoring enough to get a 38-33 lead going into halftime. The Bears then started the second half with an 8-2 run to build a game-high 11-point lead.

Lindsey Wilson then turned to their main weapon Reece Brooks who scored 28 on Saturday, 18 in the second half alone, to come back.

The Blue Raiders went on a 15-4 run to tie the game, then a 10-3 run to separate themselves late. UPIKE tried to halt the momentum and ultimately failed as LWC ran out the clock.
