UPIKE Bears Volleyball Goes 2-0 during Tri-Match at home.

PIKEVILLE,KY - Bears Volleyball with a 3-0 win over the UC-Clermont Lady Cougars during the first match of the Tri-Match hosted at UPIKE Gymnasium. The Bears topped the Lady Cougars 30-28, 25-19, 25-22.
 
The Bears got off to a great start in their first match of the year, recording 32 kills against the Cougars. UC-Clermont had 13 hitting errors in the first and second set. The Cougars fell short in the third match with 8 errors while trying to make a comeback.
 
The Bears offense were led by Hunter Clewis with 10 kills and Yeryvel Catala with 9 kills. Another great performance on the charts by Leigh Johnson with 27 assists.
 
The Bears defense had 66 digs lead by Brittany Reels and Leigh Johnson with 17 digs each.
 
 
 

UPIKE  vs. Alice Lloyd – Tri-Match Game 3
 
During the third match of the day, the Bears faced off with the Alice Lloyd College Eagles.
 
The Bears had a strong start against the Eagles jumping up to 6-1 before the first timeout. UPIKE never looked back after taking the first set to a victory.  
 
The Bears defeated the Eagles winning set one (12-25) and set two (11-25.) Late in the third, the Eagles took the lead to put them ahead of the Bears finishing 26-24 to capture the win for set three. The Bears battled back on the fourth set (15-25) to take win.
 
The Bears kept the momentum from the first match against UC-Clermont, with great defensive plays to tally 91 digs as a team. The team was lead again by Brittany Reels with 15 digs.
 
Junior Megan Frazier lead the match with 15 kills.
 
The Bears are on the road Monday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. as they face the Alice Lloyd College Eagles.
