Pikeville, KY – UPIKE women's basketball faced-off with Midway on Saturday afternoon, claiming their third win of the season by a final score of 98-75. The program also added a new member to the 1,000 point club in senior 
Brianna Burbridge.
Burbridge hit the career milestone with her eighth point of the ballgame on a strong drive ending with a shot in the low post. Burbridge finished the contest with a season high 24 points, 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Burbridge has had an explosive season, recording double-digit scoring efforts in all three contests, leading the team in scoring thus far.
Also recording a season high point total was junior guard 
Alexis Reed with 22 points. Reed shot 9-12 from the field including 4-5 from deep, tacking on three assists. Two other Bears would finish in double-digits as 
Mary Englert wrapped up with 11 points while 
Sierra Feltner had 12.
UPIKE managed their best shooting performance to date, connecting on 54 percent of shots from the field to go 40-74. From the free throw line the Bears scored nine, shooting 75 percent on 9-12. UPIKE dominated on the boards, outrebounding the Eagles 45-21 including an impressive 16 offensive rebounds.
The first half was a relatively even affair, with UPIKE hanging on to a slight lead the majority of the first two periods. In the last three minutes of the opening quarter, Midway made a 7-4 run that made it a one possession ballgame before back-to-back jumpers from 
Alexis Reed maintained the Bears' lead.
The first three and a half minutes of quarter two were defensive, with both teams limiting opportunities close to the basket. A second chance bucket from 
Bailey Frazier at the 6:48 mark was the first field goal of the period for UPIKE, Frazier would go on to score twice more in the next two minutes. Reed continued her impressive offensive play, stretching the UPIKE lead to nine after drilling a three-pointer followed by a layup. Midway surged in the final two minutes of the half, closing the gap to within five as UPIKE lead 47-42 at the break.
The Bears' second half effort saw improvement on both ends of the floor, with UPIKE growing their lead considerably in the third quarter. The Bears embarked on a 12-7 run midway through the period, leading by as much 13 points in the closing minute of the half.
The fourth quarter was much of the same, with UPIKE showcasing excellent possession control and continuing their efficient offensive performance. The Bears stretched their lead in the final minutes, winning by a final score of 98-75.
The win improves the Bears to 3-0 on the season as they approach the conference stretch beginning with Life on the road. UPIKE women's basketball will tip-off action with the Running Eagles on Saturday, December 5
th in Marietta, GA.
