Pikeville, KY – UPIKE women's basketball improved to 5-1 following Thursday evening's lopsided victory over Milligan. The Bears notched their second straight win in impressive fashion with a 92-54 advantage at the final buzzer.

UPIKE has now taken down Milligan in eight straight matchups, dating back to the 2014-15 season.

From the floor, Coach Williams' squad managed their most impressive mark of the season – shooting 50.7% on 34-67 shooting. UPIKE executed the deep ball nicely as well, hitting nine of 22 attempts for a solid 40% clip. Milligan tallied 26 total rebounds as the Bears maintained control of the glass, finishing with 43 boards.

Six UPIKE players finished with double-digits in the scoring column, headed by Bailey Frazier who put up 18 points in 22 minutes of play. Mary Englert recorded her fourth double-digit effort of the season, the junior connected on six of nine attempts for 66% in her 15 point performance. Sierra Feltner was a utility as shown on the score sheet as she went for 14 points, four rebounds, and a steal while going 6-8 from the floor.

UPIKE was in control for the entire contest as seamlessly transitioned from offensive control to defensive lockdown, going up by as much as 17 in the first quarter alone. The Bears hit four shots from beyond the arc in the opening period, thanks to Alexis Reed and Englert each hitting a pair.

The second period was much of the same as the Bears showcased their depth. Fatma Ouinet was among those getting valuable minutes, showing off her tough skill-set and scoring four buckets. Hailey Free got in on the offensive attack as well, weaving through defenders and revealing her excellent court vision and distribution skills. At the half, the Bears held a demanding 45-22 lead.

The last two quarters were composed off UPIKE extending their lead and continuing efficient play. Highlighted by buckets from Feltner and Englert, the Bears went on a 9-2 run midway through the third quarter, eventually going up 70-40 headed into the fourth. The Bears tacked on another 22 points in the final quarter, led by Frazier who dropped 11 points in 10 minutes. In the end, the Bears secured the 92-54 victory capped off by a pair of free throws from Frazier.

UPIKE women's basketball returns to play on Monday, December 14 to take on Shawnee State in MSC action. Tip-off from Appalachian Wireless Arena is set for 4PM.
