UPIKE women’s basketball drops road contest at Life

MARIETTA, Ga. – UPIKE women's basketball was unable to keep the momentum alive on Saturday, losing to Life, 69-59.

For the second consecutive game, UPIKE's forwards controlled the game. Senior forward Mia Greatrex scored a career high 21 points in the game just two days after scoring 17 against Cumberland.

Elisabeth Latham also had a second straight strong game with 14 points, while Theodora Odia picked up her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Those three provided nearly all the offense in the early going as they combined to score 19 of UPIKE's 27 points in the first half.

Both offenses came alive in a big way in the third quarter though. UPIKE shot 64 percent from the floor in the third, making nine of 14 shots. That offensive burst put UPIKE ahead heading into the fourth quarter.

Life made its big run to the win in the final quarter with a barrage of 3-pointers. After hitting just one in the first three quarters, Life made three in the fourth.

All three of those long-range shots came as part of a 17-2 run across six and a half minutes that took all the wind out of UPIKE's sails. The Running Eagles forced 21 turnovers in the game which resulted in 18 points.
