Pikeville, KY – The UPIKE women's soccer team took to the pitch on Thursday evening, suffering defeat at the hands of Bethel 14-0. The loss drops the Bears to 3-11 on the season while the Wildcats improve to 4-10.
The Wildcats got off to a hot start, scoring back-to-back goals in the fifth and sixth minutes to take a 2-0 lead.
Elizabeth Lukens started in goal for the Bears and had accumulated three saves by the 17th minute.
By the end of the first 45 minutes, the Wildcats held on to a 4-0 lead. Bethel dominated the second half effort, scoring seven goals in the final 20 minutes alone.
The Bears goalkeepers totaled an impressive 16 saves, as
Jada Rice led the way with 10 after coming into the game in the second half.
Elizabeth Lukens faced 13 shots on goal and warded off seven.
The Bears fired a pair of shots in the contest as
Riley Collett and
Lillie Kluesner shot one a piece.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, October 23rd at Bob Amos Park as they take on Freed-Hardeman.
