Bowling Green, KY – The University of Pikeville women's golf team finished their fall schedule on Tuesday afternoon at the Mid-South Conference Fall Invitational, coming in sixth place out of 11 teams. They shot a 1,008-team score (341, 332, 335), which is seventh in program history. The Bears came into the day in fifth, but slid back one spot after Tuesday's round.
UPIKE was led by
Boo Newsome, who shot a 232 (82, 76, 74) to finish in third place overall, gaining two spots after finishing yesterday in fifth. Her 232 is seventh in program history for a 54-hole tournament. Newsome had six birdies over three rounds and finished the fall season with a top-three finish in all five tournaments, including two victories. She now has 14 wins in her UPIKE career, which is the program record.
Sophie Beverly finished the tournament in 17th with a 246 (83, 79, 84), which is her best 54-hole tournament performance, besting her 254 at Indiana Wesleyan. Beverly has one birdie during the tournament.
Terrie Lawson finished in a tie for 34th with a 263, while
Gabriel Blankenship (267) finished in a tie for 37th and
Emily Brown (289) finished in 51st. Blankenship had one birdie during the tournament.
