Pikeville, KY – The University of Pikeville men's basketball team beat Appalachian Bible College Friday evening, 142-56 in the Appalachian Wireless Arena. Eight Bears scored double-digits in the contest, with Kevin Bishop II leading the way with 21 points, going 9-10 from the field. The other seven were Taevon Horton (20), Kenyon Duling (18), Avery Martinez (17), Taeron Hogg (16), Malik Malone (15), Maurice Dickson (14), and Darius Love (10). Bishop had a team-high nine rebounds while Duling led the team with six assists.

After the win, the Bears return to action on Thursday for their Mid-South Conference opener at home against Campbellsville University.

UPIKE raced out to a 26-7 lead in the first half and never looked back, leading 68-33 at the break. The second half delivered 74 points for the Bears, as they knocked down eight threes during the second frame.

The Bears shot an astounding 75.3 % from the field in the contest, knocking down 55 shots. They shot 60.9% from beyond the arc, making 14 threes. UPIKE shot 75% from the charity stripe, going 18-24. They led the entire game, had 78 points in the paint, and picked up 82 points off the bench.

This is the most points the Bears have scored in a game since December 11th, 2010 where UPIKE beat OSU-Mansfield 145-52. UPIKE will enter Thursday's game averaging an incredible 114.3 points a game.

As mentioned, Thursday night brings the start of MSC action for the Bears, as they welcome the visiting Campbellsville University Tigers to Appalachian Wireless Arena for an 8:00 p.m. tip off.

Dating back to Jan. 5, 2012, UPIKE leads the series vs. the Tigers 17-5. Last season, the Bears beat Campbellsville three times, including an 84-74 win in the opening round of the MSC Tournament.
