Williamsburg, KY – UPIKE volleyball returned to action on Monday evening, in a Mid-South Conference matchup with Cumberlands. The Patriots defeated the short-staffed Bears in three sets by scores of 25-16, 25-12, 25-10.
Megan Frazier highlighted the scoring effort with six kills, three coming as service points. The junior matched her point total from the Bears' previous match with Georgetown on seven less attempts.
Yeryvel Catala and Erin Ende tallied a trio of kills each, the latter recording a .250 hitting percentage.
Set one saw the squads go point-for-point up until the 16th point of the contest when UC sparked a momentum boost that allowed the Patriots to finish the set with an 8-0 run. Set one was the best for the Bears on the day, totaling seven kills.
In set two, the Bears got off to a slower start and went down 4-1 to the Patriots before a service error from UC put the ball back in UPIKE hands.

Megan Frazier for UPIKE's first kill of the set, making it 7-3. The Patriots heated up the remainder of the set, recording 22 kills.
The third set featured another strong early showing from the Patriots but perhaps just as impressive was the way UPIKE battled back after going down 9-0. The Bears went on a 5-4 run to recoup some points with the score at 17-6 featuring a kill from Frazier who was setup by
Mikela Cook.

th as they travel to Columbia, KY to take on Lindsey Wilson.
