Pikeville, KY – Men's Soccer dropped 4-1 to Georgetown on Thursday afternoon in an effort that included
Favio Govea's fourth goal of the season.
Overall, the Bears managed 11 shots with six on goal while the Tiger's fired 31 times and put 17 on goal. UPIKE's
Jalen Smith tallied 11 saves, his second most of the season behind his 13 save performance against Life University earlier in the week.
Georgetown got out on top early in the first period, firing five shots in less than two minutes between the 37-35 minute marks before finally finding the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead five minutes later. The Bears managed a couple of chances, placing two shots on goal in the first but the Tigers would score twice more before the halftime break.
In the second half, Govea came up big on a corner kick play from
Jeinner Farfan that would go in for his fourth goal of 2020-21. The Bears kept the Georgetown keeper busy in the second but couldn't strike again, giving up one more goal in the final 10 minutes.
The Bears go back to work on Sunday, March 21
st for a road matchup with Bethel.
