Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball Falls In Weekend Series At Reinhardt

Waleska, GA – The University of Pikeville baseball team got their 2022 season started yesterday afternoon against the No. 21 Reinhardt University Eagles at the Ken White Baseball Field.

In game one, the Eagles jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first two innings and never looked back en route to a 15-0 victory. UPIKE had six hits in the game while Eduardo Bello and Tyler Maynard led the way with a pair of hits each.

This afternoon, the Bears and Eagles played two. In the first game, Reinhardt grabbed an 11-0 lead after the first two innings. UPIKE tried to fight back with four runs over the next two innings to cut the lead to 12-4.

The first run came in the form of a Maynard sacrifice fly in the top of the third after Demarco Miller got the inning started with a single. The fourth saw some clutch two-out hitting by the Bears. Miller came up with two runners on and connected on the Bears first homerun of the season. Unfortunately for UPIKE, the Eagles would claim the 14-4 victory.

Reinhardt held a 4-0 lead in the final game after the third inning. The Bears threatened, with runners in scoring position in the final five innings but couldn't plate a run in a 7-0 loss. Maynard, Ryan Sartin, and Jared Kirkman produced six of the Bears eight hits in the game.

What's Up Next
UPIKE returns to action next Friday in search of its first win of the season. They face off with the Voorhees College Tigers in a doubleheader on Friday beginning at noon. They will then finish the series on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
