Pikeville, Ky. - After finishing first overall at the Music City Invitational, freshman Renee Crooks was named Mid-South Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for the second time in 2022.
Crooks' first-place finish was her fourth of the season, and places Crooks second in UPIKE women's golf history in wins only behind now-assistant coach Boo Newsome. Renee Crooks' play also earned her all-tournament honors for the fifth time this season.
The Music City Invitational was a three round tournament that saw Crooks, along with the rest of the UPIKE Bears team, improve their scores each round. Crooks shot a 78 in round one followed by a 76 in round two.
Heading into round three, Crooks sat in fourth place overall and saved her best performance for last. She shot a 73 in round three and rose three spots in the overall standings. On the 16th hole, Crooks recorded an eagle on a par five to solidify first place. She was also the tournament leader in strokes per par four with an average of 4.23.
The Bears will tee off again on October 24th and 25th for the Mid-South Conference Fall Invitational in Bowling Green, Ky.
