PALM HARBOR, Fla. — The University of Pikeville women's golf team wrapped up competition at The Invite at Innisbrook on Tuesday, finishing 10th among 13 teams at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club's South Course. 

The Bears finished the three-round tournament at 953 (+101), posting team rounds of 322 (+38), 320 (+36) and 311 (+27). UPIKE saved its best round of the tournament for the final day, improving by nine strokes from its opening round. 

Tayla Howroyd led the Bears individually, finishing tied for ninth at 225 (+12). Howroyd opened with a 78 before carding a 76 in the second round and closing the tournament with an even-par 71. She ended the tournament with five birdies. Her final-round 71 was UPIKE's lowest individual round of the tournament. 

Keira Howroyd finished tied for 40th at 241 (+28), posting rounds of 83, 78 and 80 with five birdies. Tiffanie Tran placed 44th at 244 (+31) after rounds of 79, 83 and 82 with two birdies. 

Laney Sorrell finished tied for 50th at 248 (+35), recording rounds of 86, 84 and 78 with two birdies. Darcy Lawson rounded out the Bears' lineup in 52nd at 249 (+36) with rounds of 82, 83, and 84, carding four birdies. 

Dalton State (Ga.) won the team title at +18, while Southeastern (Fla.) finished second at +28 and Truett McConnell placed third at +72. 

UPIKE returns to action Oct. 5-6 at the Roadrunner Women's Fall Invitational, hosted by Dalton State College at Dalton Golf & Country Club in Dalton, Georgia.
