Bryce Oliver led the charge as UPIKE men's bowling earned the team's second consecutive tournament title over the weekend at the Orange and Black Classic.
Held at Beaver-Vu Bowl, the event featured five team games on Saturday and a 16-game baker series on Sunday.
The Bears opened the event with an impressive showing in team play, topping the 21-team leaderboard. The qualifying title performance saw the Bears drop 4962 pins, which was 100 pins ahead of runner-up Wright State.
Oliver dominated, totaling 1145 pins to finish first of over 200 bowlers. The junior averaged 229 pins per game in his all-tournament performance. The Ohioan totaled 200 or more in four out of the five games, his highest being game four where he finished with 254.
Varsity squad mate
Christopher Lesueur finished 13
th overall, dropping 1019 pins to average 203.8.
Matteo Cittadino led the JV 1 team. Cittadino finished with 1008 pins, placing 16
th overall and earning JV All-Tournament honors. Just behind him was Oscar Moore who finished with 1002 pins to finish 17
th. All said, the Bears had seven bowlers amongst the top 30.
In Sunday's baker play, the Bears' varsity squad cruised to a 8193 pin total, claiming the first place finish. JV1 finished with an overall total of 8050 between team and baker play, finishing first of 11 teams after taking over the first-place spot from
Northwestern Ohio on day two with a solid baker game performance.
Wrapping up the tournament was match play for both the varsity and JV squads. The Bears varsity defeated Tusculum in the first round but fell to Milligan to drop out of the bracket. JV1 continued its power streak, defeating Milligan, and Wright State before claiming the title over Belmont Abbey in the championship.

nd as they head to Fairfield, Ohio for the MSC-sanctioned Cincinnati Classic.
