Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Record Performances by Spencer and Parham Jr. Highlight Commanding Win over Toccoa Falls

Pikeville, Ky. – Behind a dynamic triple-double performance from Teddy Parham Jr., men's basketball won their fourth straight against Toccoa Falls Monday afternoon. The 94-59 victory is the Bears second highest margin of the season at 35 points.

Parham Jr. enjoyed a fruitful Monday, being named MSC Men's Basketball Player of the Week before dropping the third triple-double in UPIKE history. The senior finished with 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. He drained a season-high five threes, finishing with a .571 shooting percentage.

Korbin Spencer inked his name into the program's history books, tying the single game record for three pointers made. Spencer's eight three pointers is the most since K.K. Simmons' effort against IU-Southeast on December 20th, 2014. Spencer also scored a career-high 30 points on 11-18, and snagged seven boards.

Thanks to a redeeming second half, the Bears finished shooting 54 percent from the field including 18 made threes. UPIKE also claimed the rebounding advantage 39-27, and dominated points in the paint 26-12.

Toccoa Falls took an early advantage, leading 17-14 with 9:08 to play. Spencer wrangled in an offensive board on the next UPIKE possession and made the put-back, sparking a 13-6 run that would give the Bears a 30-25 lead with 4:24 to go in the half. The Bears dominated the remainder of the half, taking a 41-20 lead into halftime.

Devin Collins splashed a jumper to open the second half, followed by shots from Spencer and Brown which put the Bears firmly in control. Back-to-back threes from Parham Jr. and Spencer made it 53-33 with 16:34. Spencer and Parham Jr. traded threes before Mark Vance Jr. splashed one of his own to give the Bears a 28-point lead.

UPIKE's biggest lead of the contest came at the 5:40 mark when Spencer's eighth three pointer put the Bears up by 39.

The Bears return to action on Thursday, January 5th in a return to Appalachian Wireless Arena for a matchup with UT-Southern.
