Pikeville, KY – Women's basketball took down Lindsey Wilson 70-62 Thursday night in a physical showdown in the UPIKE Gym. The Bears dominated with tough, earned shots, led by Mary Englert and Morgan Stamper who dropped 15 points each.

The win improves the Bears to 15-10 (9-9 MSC) and extends their win streak to five as they continue momentum through the waning regular season.

One key to success for the Bears was rebounding and they managed to outrebound their opponent for the fourth straight contest. The Bears snagged 33 rebounds, including 11 on the offensive glass.

The Bears shot a clean 43.6% from the field and 18-21 from the free throw line which was a key factor in the victory.

The game was close in its entirety but the Bears either outscored or matched the Blue Raiders in each period. The second quarter saw UPIKE take the largest margin as they outscored Lindsey 19-14 led by Bailey Frazier who dropped five points and added a blocked shot.

The Blue Raiders threatened in the fourth quarter, coming within four points at the 5:21 mark to make it 58-44. Stamper followed with a put-back layup on the next possession. The Bears shot the lead back up to eight, and later to as much as 12. Englert iced the cake with a pair of free throws to seal the victory.

The Bears return to action Saturday, February 12^th for a 2:00 PM matchup with Cumberland University. Saturday's game will also be senior day for the Bears.
