Columbia, KY – Bears baseball opened the conference schedule with a nine-inning battle against Lindsey Wilson Saturday, falling 11-2 to the Blue Raiders.
The game is one of a three game series with games two and three set for tomorrow. The loss drops the Bears to 7-1 (0-1 MSC) while the Blue Raiders improve to 10-3 (1-0 MSC).
Ty Crall got the start for UPIKE and went four innings, giving up nine runs (8E) on seven hits.
Jacob Hawkins gave four innings of relief and allowed a pair of runs on four hits. Crall picks up the loss to make his record 1-4 on the season.
The Blue Raiders got off to a hot start, crossing five runs in the opening frame. The Bears got their first hit of the contest via an
Eduardo Bello single to right in the second but he would be left on.
Tyler Maynard poked an infield single in the fourth but the Bears wouldn't scratch any runs until the seventh when a
Demarco Miller double put him and
Cam Revolt in scoring position.
Anthony Houk came in clutch yet again for the Bears, busting a single to right field scoring both runners.
