Richmond, KY – After trailing Mount St. Joseph University by 13 strokes heading into the second day of play, the University of Pikeville women's golf team completed a huge comeback to earn their second team tournament win of the season at the Alice Lloyd College Spring Invitational. This is the second year in a row they won the tournament.
After shooting 373 as a team on Saturday, the Bears carded a 330 on Sunday to sprint past the field and win by 16 strokes over Mount St. Joseph. UPIKE was led by
Boo Newsome, who won the tournament for her third individual victory of the season with a 152 (80, 72). This is her 15th career victory and second consecutive year she has won this tournament.
Finishing in second place was
Sophie Beverly with a 168 (88, 80). This is her second top-five finish of the season. Finishing in a tie for seventh place was
Gabriel Blankenship with a 178 (94, 84) for her second top-ten finish of the season. Also competing for the Bears was
Emily Bechtel, who shot a 205. All four Bears improved their score on Sunday by eight strokes or more.

Nelson Scott's UPIKE career. The Bears return to action next Monday, April 4th for a midweek tournament at the Midway Eagle Invitational hosted by Griffin Gate Golf Club.
