Pikeville, KY – Men's tennis opened MSC play Sunday with a loss to (13) Cumberlands, dropping 0-5 in a match cut short due to weather.
Doubles play opened with
Juan Diego Alzate and
Mirko Dedich taking a 2-6 loss in the doubles #1 before Valentin and
Martin Lorenzo went 1-6 at #2.
Fernando Proano and
Juan Diego Medina finished with a 2-6 loss in the #3 spot.
UPIKE's sole set win came via
Valentin Ortiz in the #1 singles, winning the second set 6-4 before falling in the tiebreaker. Later at #3,
Mirko Dedich gave a tough battle in the first set, going 5-7 but fell in the second set 2-6.
Juan Diego Alzate went down 2-6, 2-6 at #2, Proano was swept 0-6, 0-6 at #4, while #5 and #6 went unfinished.
The Bears return to Bob Amos Park on Friday, March 11th for a match with (20) Cumberland. The dual is set to start at 5:00 PM.
