Crossville, TN – The University of Pikeville women's golf team competed in the Mid-South Conference Spring Classic over the last two days at Bear Trace at Cumberland Mountain Golf Course in Crossville, Tennessee.
Boo Newsome and
Sophie Beverly both competed as individuals for the Bears, with no team score being recorded.
Newsome finished the tournament in third place, giving her a top-three finish in every tournament the Bears have competed in so far this season. She shot 230 overall (78, 75, 77), which is tied for the third best 54-hole score in program history. Earlier this season, Newsome tied the program record with a 224 at the Indiana Wesleyan University Fall Invitational. She finished the tournament with six birdies.
Beverly also played well for the Bears. The freshman finished in 14th place, after sitting in a tie for eighth after day one. She shot 243 (77, 80, 86), which is her best 54-hole score this season. This is Beverly's fifth Top-15 finish this season. She made four birdies during the tournament.
