Kansas City, MO – The NAIA announced their Women's Golfer of the Week Wednesday afternoon, and
Boo Newsome became the first Bear in program history to earn the honor.
After winning a pair of times during the fall schedule, Newsome has continued to play great during the spring portion of the season. She won the ALC Spring Invite at Battlefield Golf Course with a 152 (80, 72), and followed it up by winning the Midway Eagle Invitational at Griffin Gate Golf Club by carding a 147 (75, 72). She now has 16 wins in her career.
Her 147 is the fourth-best 36-hole score in program history. Newsome also shot the second best 36-hole score in program history in the first tournament of the season, with a 142 (74, 68) in the Alice Lloyd Fall Invitational at Stonecrest Golf Course.
Yesterday in the MSC Spring Classic held at Bear Trace at Cumberland Mountain Golf Course, Newsome finished third with a score of 230 (78, 75, 77). The 230 ties her for the third-best 54-hole score in program history.
UPIKE will finish the 2021-22 season on May 2-3 in Bowling Green, KY at the Mid-South Conference Championship hosted by Bowling Green Country Club.
