Bears Fall Twice To Cumberlands Saturday Afternoon

Pikeville, KY – The University of Pikeville softball team lost a pair of games on Saturday afternoon against No. 15 University of the Cumberlands, 4-0 and 13-0.

Zoe Ingram led the Bears at the plate, with four total hits and three coming in game two, which included a double. Alexis Roby also had a hit in each game for the Bears.

Game one saw the Patriots grab an unearned run in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. With the score 3-0, the Bears had the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the fourth. Sophie Kluesner and Roby both singled before Haleigh Jones reached on an error to load the bases. Cumberlands worked out of the jam though, with a pair of strikeouts. The Patriots would win the game 4-0.

Cumberlands held a 6-0 lead after two innings in the second contest, and would win the game 13-0. The Bears had runners in scoring position in every inning, but couldn't bring anyone in. Their best chances came in the bottom of the third and fourth innings.
