Crestview Hills, KY – The University of Pikeville softball team suffered a pair of defeats Friday afternoon at Thomas More University, 8-2 and 10-4. Leading the Bears in game one was Haleigh Jones, with two hits and two RBI. Katelyn Byrd provided three hits for UPIKE in the second game, with one RBI.

Game One
The Bears jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, taking advantage of an error that allowed them to extend the inning. With the bases loaded and two outs, Jones came through for the Bears, with a single to bring in a pair of runs.

Unfortunately for the Bears, that was all they would get. They had runners in scoring position in four more innings, but couldn't bring any more runs home in the 8-2 loss. They had six hits in the game.

Game Two
After falling behind 3-0 early on, the Bears rallied back with a three-run third inning to tie it at 3-3. They had the bases loaded with one out, when Amber Triplett walked in their first run for an RBI. Byrd then singled in another run before a Lillie Kluesner sacrifice fly provided the tying RBI.

They would put up another run in the fourth, but the Saints offense proved to be too much for UPIKE, as they had 14 hits in the 10-4 victory.

The Bears end the regular season tomorrow afternoon against Thomas More with a doubleheader beginning at Noon.
