Pikeville, KY – Mikey Swails and
Tyler Freas have been named MSC Gold Gloves, announced conference officials Tuesday morning. The duo are in the midst of their opening round matchup with Georgetown.
Nine athletes from the MSC earned gold glove distinctions, with UPIKE, Freed-Hardeman, and Cumberlands being the only institutions to land two or more selections.
Freas has an absolute force in the outfield, recording 152 putouts, including a double play. Most impressively, Freas has recorded just three errors, and has thrown out four from the center field position. The March 30
th showdown with Emory and Henry kept
Freas the busiest as he recorded nine putouts.
Swails is the consistent unifier on the diamond for the Bears, starting in 29 games behind the plate. The senior has recorded an impressive 158 put outs on the season, tossing out 20 around the bases. Swails has just one error on the season, and, more impressively, just three errors in his entire career for the Bears.
