Lexington, KY – The University of Pikeville women's golf team competed in the Midway Eagle Invitational over the past two days at Griffin Gate Golf Course. The Bears finished in 8th place overall with a team score of 691 (344, 347).

For the second week in a row and fourth time this season, Boo Newsome won individual medalist honors for the Bears. Her 147 (75,72) edged out Alayna Perryman of Milligan University by two strokes and is the fourth best 36-hole score in program history. This is her 16th career victory. Newsome tied with Perryman for second in the tournament with six birdies over their two rounds.

Finishing in a tie for 17th was Sophie Beverly with a 159 (77,82). This is tied for her second lowest 36-hole total this season. She finished the tournament with four birdies.

Gabriel Blankenship shot 180 for UPIKE (92,88) while Emily Bechtel finished at 205.
