Crestview Hills, Ky. – Women's soccer fell short in a 4-0 loss to Madonna Friday afternoon, cooling down from a red hot 3-0 start.
Madonna was in control from start to finish, holding the Bears hostage in their defensive zone. UPIKE managed little penetration, recording no shots in the contest. Sophomore keeper
Millicent Conod was challenged by the Madonna offense the entire match, recording an impressive 11 saves in her second appearance of the season.
One of the Bears few chances in the contest came in the ninth minute when
Jayce Buchner legged a corner kick but the squad was unable to fire a shot.
Defense held solid in the opening half, warding off a Madonna score for 21 minutes before the Crusaders connected to make it 1-0. After firing three consecutive shots around the 30 minute mark, Madonna scored again to take a two goal lead.
The Crusaders wouldn't score again until the 78
th minute before adding their final goal in the 87
th minute of the contest.
