Williamsburg, Ky. - The UPIKE Bears hit the road tonight to take on the University of the Cumberlands Patriots and were defeated 3-0 in Williamsburg.
University of the Cumberlands took the first set 25-12. In the second set, the Patriots jumped out to a 4-0 lead. The Bears scored three of the next four points to get the score at 5-3. Later on in the second, the Bears went on a 3-0 run after falling behind 24-14, but ultimately lost 25-17. The Bears lost the third set and the Patriots won the match 3-0.
Junior Cheyenne Martinez led the Bears with eight assists. Martinez and fellow junior Erin Ende led the Bears in kills, with three each.
The Bears will hit the court on Saturday in Grayson, Kentucky for a double header against Ohio Christian University, followed by a match against Kentucky Christian University.
