Bears Dominate Phoenix For Sixth Straight Win

Pikeville, Ky. - Coach Clifton Williams' UPIKE Bears extended their win streak to six with a dominant, 90-64 win over Cumberland University (Tenn.) Saturday afternoon.

Similar to the first, the second quarter was very close. Midway through the second, the Phoenix cut the lead to 32-30. UPIKE responded with a 10-4 run and led 42-34 at the half. Morgan Stamper had eight points and six rebounds in the second while Sierra Feltner had four points and two assists.

The Bears and the Phoenix traded baskets in the first minute of the second but then UPIKE blanked CU for close to four minutes after. While the Bears' defense held the Phoenix offense in check, their offense rattled off eight straight. Mary Englert and Allie Stone hit threes and Bailey Frazier hit a jumper during that run. UPIKE shot 69% from the field and outscored Cumberland 27-10 in the quarter. Mary Englert had seven points and the Bears led 69-44 after three quarters.

The fourth quarter opened with a 7-0 UPIKE run to put them up by 32 points. Brooklyn Frazier had five points and two assists while Bailey Birchfield had four points in the fourth. Just like the last game, Brooklyn Frazier scored the final point of the game and the Bears won 90-64.

Sierra Feltner had eight points and a team-high five assists. As a team the Bears shot 52% from the field, out-rebounded CU 31-19 and led for 37 minutes and 37 seconds.
