Late Goal Sinks Bears In Regular Season Finale

Pikeville, Ky. - Women's soccer fell 2-1 in their final regular season game Saturday night.

Milligan opened the scoring in the 4' when Natalie Roper connected with Angeleena Waaland for the only goal in the first half. UPIKE's best scoring opportunity of the first half came minutes after. Brekel Tibbs had a great look on net, but the shot was stopped by MU keeper Akyla Walcott. The Buffaloes held a 4-2 shot advantage in the first 45 and had a 1-0 lead.

UPIKE turned up the heat early in the second, dominating possession time. The Bears' time of possession would pay off in the 69' when Kylie Gollihue leveled the score with a header. Anna Dudas had the assist on Gollihue's fourth cap of the season. Five minutes later, the Bears were called for a penalty inside the 22, and the Buffaloes had a penalty kick opportunity. Bears keeper Kacy Zimmerman sent the UPIKE faithful in a frenzy by making a save on the ensuing PK. Milligan would get the game winner nine minutes later when Angeleena Waaland put the Buffaloes up 2-1. MU would take this one 2-1.

UPIKE finishes the season 6-10-2 and 5-7-2 in AAC play.
