Lexington, Ky. - UPIKE volleyball freshman outside hitter Lanie Hawley was named to the 2023 AVCA All-Northeast Region Team.  

Hawley had an incredible first season for the Bears with 51 service aces, 272 kills, .282 hitting percentage, 3.31 points per set, and led the Bears' defense with 77 blocks.  

Hawley also set some impressive single-game records, including 17 kills at Union on Oct. 7, seven aces on Sept. 29 against Columbia College, and nine blocks against Livingstone on Sept. 4.  

The announcement comes after Hawley was earned a first-team all-conference selection and was named to the AAC All-Freshman Team. 

"I am really excited," said Hawley. "I am very thankful to my coach, my family, and my teammates."  

"Being able to have a player of Lanie's magnitude is a program changer for us. I am looking forward to watching her for the next three years," said Head Coach Kris Kern.
