Bears end non-con play at Campbellsville

 
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The University of Pikeville women's basketball team wrapped up regular-season non-conference play on Saturday, falling at No. 3 Campbellsville 85-44.
 
The Bears struggled shooting the basketball, hitting only 29.3 percent from the field and 30.8 percent on three-point tries. More troublesome was 2-of-10 shooting from the free throw line.
 
Multiplying the issues was getting beaten in the rebounding battle 49-26. As a result, Campbellsville managed 77 field goal attempts while the Bears shot only 58 times.
 
Sophomore guard India Blyth was a bright spot for the Bears, hitting 4-of-5 from the arc to finish with a team-high 12 points. She also tied for the team lead with three assists. However, the rest of the team managed to make only 4-of-21 from outside.
 
Senior Morgan Stamper joined Blyth in double figures with 11 points. She also had six rebounds, as did freshman Rachel Bush.
 
Graduate student Bailey Frazier stood out on the defensive end, recording a career-high four blocked shots.
 
Graduate student Kayla Luebbe came off the bench to lead Campbellsville with 17 points. Senior Maddy Boyle followed with 16, adding five rebounds and four assists.
 
Graduate student Kaitlynn Wilks finished with a double-double, scoring 15 and grabbing 11 rebounds. Senior Lauren Lee had 12 points while junior Whitney Hay had 10 points, five rebounds and a game-high seven assists.
 
UPike will be back in action on Tuesday night, traveling to Dayton, Tenn., to play Bryan University. The game features the teams picked tied atop the preseason AAC standings is scheduled to tipoff at 5:30 p.m.
